When you register your team this year remember all members of a team must attend the church they are quizzing for. The only exceptions to this will be those pre arranged through Mary Ann and approved by the quizzing officials. Please do not abuse this because many teams voiced their frustrations with this last season. In their opinion it not a fair situation for them to compete.

Recommended Guidelines for Divisions and Clubs

C Division would be recommended to all those in 3 – 6th grades or any other “rookies” for their first 2 years of quizzing*.  The division would run all year but all reference questions would be from the Club 50 material (Q, Q2, FTV, FT, CVR, CR, CVRMA, CRMA).  They would have 2 quizzes per meet and material would only accumulate until the quiz meet and then new material would start.  This allows quizzers to join at almost any point in the year.  Any quizzer who learned all 50 specific verses and recited them to a listener throughout the year would be awarded a certificate &/or gift at the end of the year.  The focus is on reading all the material regularly and noting key word phrases and knowing the Club 50 verses well.

B Division would remain much as it currently is other than that it would be recommended for those in 5th through 12th grades who wish to compete at the ‘encouragement level’*.  All the reference material for B division would come from “Club 120” and would be cumulative to the end of the season.  Any quizzer who learned all 120 specific verses and recited them to a listener throughout the year AND completed the recitation of 15 of these verses (5 quote & 10 FTV) from a pool of the 120 verses “drawn from a hat”, would be eligible for a certificate &/or a gift at the end of the year. The top 5 quizzers in B division who meet the age/grade requirement are still eligible to try out for the international team.  This is likely to change for the 2008-2009 season.  They would continue to quiz 3 times at each meet.  The focus is on reading the material over regularly and noting key word phrases and knowing Club 120 verses well.

A Division will be stepping up a notch.  It would be open only to those in 7-12th grade who wish to compete at the ‘international level’ or with special permission for the District Coordinator.   All the reference material for A division would come from “Club 300” and would be cumulative.  Any quizzer who learned all 300 specific verses and recited them to a listener throughout the year AND completed the recitation of 30 of these verses (10 quote & 20 FTV) from a pool of the 300 verses “drawn from a hat”, would be eligible for a Certificate &/or gift at the end of the year.  The Top 15 quizzers in A would be eligible to try out for the international team at year’s end and those quizzers would do well to join Club Full Material at the beginning of the year.  They would continue to quiz 3 times at each meet.

*NOTE:  If a person makes the top 10 during their 1st year, they will not be required to move up to the next division, but for the individual’s 2nd year or later of C & B division, the top 10 will be encouraged to move up. If you are in your 3rd or 4th year in a division and you have not made the top 10, you may continue in the current division.  Teams making the top 3 will be encouraged to move up a division.

With the exception of the NWD Invitational, Team Finals, and Individual Finals, roughly 75% of the questions for monthly District meets will come from the new material and 25% from the review material
